SAKARA FIESTA 2017

On Easter Sunday, the 16th of April 2017, lovers of Sakara music will gather on Freedom Park, Lagos, for the first of its kind musical show, tagged “Sakara Fiesta 2017” to celebrate two of the  greatest legends of Sakara music. 

Before the advent of hip hop and pop music in Nigeria, there are numerous culturally oriented music that promotes the Nigerian cultural heritages, one of these culturally oriented music is Sakara music. 

According to historical facts, Sakara music originated from the northern parts of Nigeria; a kind of music with a blend of Islamic features. It’s major sound instrument is a fiddle known as “goje”, accompanied by other drums, of which the Sakara drum is of paramount importance in the assemblage of drums. 

Names like Yusuf Olatunji and Lefty Salami Balogun are renowned for their efforts in propagating the indigenous sounds called Sakara. So join other culture lovers, on Easter Sunday, at 4pm to celebrate these great men.

Usually, the event is a one night affair, but it was made a two nights affair to mark the 10th year anniversary of the Upfront and Personal Corporate Elite event, there were two shows; the Weekend Takeover and 50th birthday celebration of the CEO of Upfront and Personal, Mr. Paul Okoye. 

On the list of performances, we have Tiwa Savage, Oritse Femi, Banky W, M.I, Terry Apala, Vector-da-viper, Tecno and others. Also on the performance list are international stars, Jagged Edge,  Jidena and Cabosnoop.

SAD NEWS: FELIX DUKE LOOSES BROTHER 

It was a sad moment for the family of radio dance hall star Felix Duke,  following the death of his elder brother. 

In an exclusive car interview with Show Time Naija, Felix Duke said the sad news took him by surprise. 

According to Felix, his elder brother who was in his late fifties lost his life after a brief illness in Benin, the capital of Edo state. 

Felix Duke was to be a guest on Metro FM over the weekend, but he couldn’t make it to the studio because of the news.

Show Time Naija use this medium to send our condolence to Felix Duke and we pray that the soul of the departed rest in peace.
