MediaGuide.NG Magazine is out with a brand new edition titled “The Characters That Kept TV Alive for 11 Weeks”. This edition of the magazine covers BBNaija, undoubtedly the biggest show on African TV so far this year.
According to Kolade Akeni, the publisher of MediaGuide.NG magazine, “Now, we live in a world where our screens (TV and mobile) house unlimited pool of contents. Audience fragmentation has never been more pronounced. The case was different between January 22 and April 9, 2017 when every day was like a single-event-day and every Sunday night was like a National election night. It took us back to the days when TV was like the only place to get entertained”.
“The self-scripted show left at least a talking point each day, from TBoss and Miyonse to Bisola and TTT. Even Ebuka, the only character out of the house, had a way of giving us something to talk about, especially on the night he had two microphones on for an entire one hour show”, he continued.
This edition highlights some of the major talking points that we won’t forget in a hurry. It also has all the latest happenings on TV, Radio, Cinemas, Events and more covered in this edition.
The edition will be available for sale from Monday, May 15th.

In Lagos, there will be fewer “math meltdowns” and other homework headaches now that Tutor Doctor the fastest growing “at home” tutoring franchise worldwide is being introduced to the Nigerian market.

Tutor Doctor, a rapidly expanding one-to-one tutoring service designed to help students from ages 6 to 106, announced the opening of a new franchise location in Lagos, offering the community and students a private, easy way to catch-up or get ahead in school. Tutor Doctor of Nigeria will launch on the 10th of May 2017 at Four Points by Sheraton Victoria Island.

The demand for tutoring has drastically evolved due to a myriad of reasons including the adoption of new technologies, rising student enrolments, intense competition among students, inability of standard education systems to address the unique needs of each student, lack of teaching staff at schools, and out-dated school infrastructural facilities. Tutor Doctor has come to address these issues.

Tutor Doctor uses a variety of well- known books and educational materials to supplement customized programs, but the franchise primarily leverages the curriculum and text the student is currently working with to ensure the most relevant tutoring is provided. Tutor Doctor also works with students’ current teacher to ensure that they are meeting both the student’s and teacher’s expectations. Nigerian students stand to gain significant value from Tutor Doctor.

‘’We look forward to assisting students in achieving their educational goals with programs that are specifically designed to fit the needs of each individual. One-to-one tutoring ensures that each student is being given the utmost attention and tools for success. It also gives our tutors the satisfaction of seeing their students’ progress. We can’t wait to start helping students reach their full potential.’’–Ignatius Inyang, Regional Manager Tutor Doctor Nigeria

In addition to providing school- age students with tutoring in various subjects, many families also hire Tutor Doctor to help students get ahead and prepare for more advanced challenges, such as Honours classes that could help them get into a preferred college or university. Tutor Doctor also caters for pupils or students with special needs. Tutor Doctor has proven valuable for the rapidly growing home-schooled population, as well as for seniors and professionals wanting to learn new technology skills.

About Tutor Doctor

Tutor Doctor was founded in 2000 as an alternative to the ‘’one-to-many’’ teaching model most extra-curricular learning centres offer by providing a personalized one-to-one, in-home tutoring service to students. The company quickly grew and in 2003 turned to franchising as a way of expanding her impact and meeting the vast market demand. Now with offices internationally in Canada, the United States, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Middle East, Australia and Africa, the Tutor Doctor vision is becoming a reality as the lives of students and their families are being positively impacted throughout the world. With over 400 franchised territories worldwide, Tutor Doctor was listed by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the fastest growing franchise brands. The first innovative and social footwear brand in Africa, Keexs and South African based Afrikanswiss (Africa’s premier denim brand) recently collaborated on a new collection for South African Fashion Week 2017.

Showcased at the Hyde Park corner in Johannesburg on the 31st of March; the new Spring/Summer 2017 collection, “Naija man in Soweto” tells the story of a modern merge of cultures, with interesting pieces like the denim ‘fila’ to the denim embroidered ‘buba’, it’s safe to say that there’s no limit to the creativity of African fashion designers.

The Keexs sneaker collection with art curated by self-taught artist Lemi Ghariokwu, draws inspiration and pays tribute to the legendary Fela Anikulapo – Kuti, a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, human rights activist and political maverick who has inspired millions of people all over the world.

The Afrikanswiss collection fused Nigerian traditional wear with pantsula street wear. Pantsula, a highly energetic dance originated in the black townships of South Africa during the Apartheid era. It developed into a form of social commentary for black South Africans and although it has undergone several transformations with the country’s changing political tides it still stays relevant till today.

Nigeria and South Africa could be likened to the Biblical Aaron and Moses, endowed with the responsibility of bringing Africa out from the bondage of despair, decline and underdevelopment. As regional powers, history has imposed on them the enormous task of finding solutions to some of the most pressing African concerns.

The Keexs and Afrikanswiss collection will be available in select retail stores in Nigeria and South Africa by Spring 2017
